I understand your frustration. But unfortunately, it is not uncommon to wait for two or more years for an asylum interview. The fact that your husband’s father is terminally ill is certainly a good reason to request an expedited asylum interview (as long as the illness was well documented and properly submitted to the local asylum office), but it is difficult to get one. And in most of the cases it has nothing to do with your attorney.
If you have any concerns related to whether a request to expedite the asylum interview was submitted and/or you want to ask what else you can do, you can always call your local asylum office and check with them.
You might have heard about recent changes to the affirmative asylum interview scheduling, which is happening now in about 40-45 days. However, these changes do not affect older asylum submissions.
Lastly, calling your local asylum office never hurts.
